Here is a basic lists of projects I’m currently working on. I’ve decided for safety to not go into too much detail about the work itself as I want to protect it until it’s ready to be released publicly, especially those involving third parties. This list however will give you an idea of what’s currently in the pipeline and what to expect to be coming your way soon!
Websites
In 2011/12 my photography site will be undergoing a revamp to make it more professional and update them with my backlog of work. My central site has been worked on in 2009 and I orginally planned to look at my photography in 2010 but Ive realised that I would like two years to releaunch the site so I’ve moved onto another IT project this year that I’ve been meaning to do for some time. I dropped the cafepress store last year but when I do re relaunch that will be recreated again at that time. I may stick to just limited edition handmade prints but this will be worked out next year. I have dropped the cafepress newsletter idea as I now have this Niamh news blog for that purpose and this saves on doing the same thing in different places.
I also intend to build a custom made publications base (or work base) for my articles and short stories that have gone past a reasonable amount of query time. This may also expand into self published ebooks as well so I can make money from them. I want to see how much money this makes compared to the affiliate models like helium so I know which market is best for my work (outside traditional publishers).
Sci-Fi 6 Book Series
I’m in draft two of the first book but this is kind of on hold as I’m working this year more on the short stories and other publications. I’ve been working on it since 2000 in my spare time (it is a huge project I expect to cover my lifetime, hence why I’m kick starting other projects to build my name in print). I do now have a workable prologue and first chapter to the series so it is moving forward.
Sci-Fi Shorts
I’ve always known that my sci-fi series could be expanded by making short self contained stories out of the same universe and characters. However I’m not limiting myself to this story only and this year I’m exploring topics that interest me in general through fictional shorts. I should be submitting my first one of these within the next few weeks.
I hope to write and submit one of these shorts to the ‘Writers of the Future‘ competition for new writers this year. If I win a top place I could be published in their anthology and can still be published later in the large work without conflict.
Non-Fiction Articles
I have a number of articles, much like the ones I did for Helium that I want to write this year but I’ve decided, like the shorts, I want to try to sell these direct to publications for more money and to get into print rather than exclusively being online. These are mostly advice, how to and informational articles in my areas of interest.
Non-Fiction e/Books
My main book focus in 2009 will be on a new idea that is part autobiographical and part personal development. I’m currently working on the proposal and the outline to try to secure an advance.
I also have a few other self help eBooks I want to write and perhaps self publish via LuLu, but I may just go down the traditional publishing route if I can. The topics include my experiences with Fibromyalgia, Depression one and recovery from my Eating Disorder.
Ghost Writing
I’m also ghost writing a book for someone on a sensitive subject and (they wish to remain anonymous whilst getting their knowledge out there) and so they have given me permission to publish a work on their behalf. This project however has some problems, which have caused delays, so it is kind of on hold at the moment freeing me to work on another book project for now.
Blooks and Blogs
I’m also intending on publishing my blog into a blook via LuLu for the Lulu Blooker Prize. This will also include unpublished material from my diaries and brings together information from several blogs I started before I settled into the ‘For The Hole Inside Everyone’ format here at word press.
I’ve also recently started a poker blog called Passion For Poker. I’m still working on the direction and aim of the blog, like my other blogs that have evolved over time, but I know no matter what it is this is an area that I can pour my writing into in the future.
Photography
I’m working on building my portfolio for when I come to update my gallery and site in 2011/12, having invested now in the new digital SLR camera . This will include a gallery of old and new work with their own watermarks on.
I plan to create an online store to sell my works, it may be through CafePress.com or I may build my own if I stick to the limited edition model. Also I’m working on selling some of my photography as stock photos via affliates like ShutterStock.com , iStockPhoto and Fotolia.
